Spiced caramel Apple and Date Parcels
Spiced caramel Apple and Date Parcels
We are celebrating the arrival of cooler weather with these wonderfully simple warming dessert parcels.
Theres so much to love about them; they can be prepared a few hours before baking and they are contained in baking paper parcels which means no washing up!
Serve the parcels closed and allow everyone to unwrap their dessert like a present.
The recipe is for one person and can be multiplied as needed.
1 large green apple, peeled and cored
1tsp butter
1 heaped tsp brown sugar
2 dates, cut into quarters
1 star anise
Have a 30cm square of baking paperĀ for each serving ready before you start.
Cut the apple into 4 and then cut each quarter into 3 chunks.
Melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar.
Toss through the apple chunks and date quarters to coat.
Pile the apple and dates into the centre of the baking paper square and pop the star anise on top.
Tie the paper into a purse like parcel with string.
The parcels can now be stored in the fridge for a few hours or they can be placed on a tray and put into a 180c preheated oven.
Bake for 30 minutes and serve with cream or ice-cream.
